1.-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS TO ENTER GREECE

- A visa to enter Greece is not required for citizens of the United States, Canada, and the European Union.
- Citizens of all other countries should contact the nearest Greek consulate.

TYPES OF VISAS

- Tourist and business (single and multiple entry)
- Transit (single and double)

PROCESSING TIME AND FEES

- A processing time of three weeks should be anticipated in most cases.
- Fees depend on the nationality of the applicant, and are determined by reciprocity between Greece and the respective country.
- In addition to the visa fee, a non-refundable $4,65 application fee is required.

SCHENGEN VISA REQUIREMENTS

Visa applicants must present the following documents:

- Passport (or travel document accepted by the Schengen countries) The passport must be valid for a period of at least three (3) months beyond the last day of stay in Schengen countries. 

- Green card (or long-term U.S.A. visa) 

- Round trip airline ticket (or itinerary with dates and flight numbers when applying for the visa. When the visa is granted the applicant must show the original ticket. If traveling with an organized tour, a letter from the travel agency stating that the applicant is a member of the group and the itinerary of the tour.)
 
- Financial guarantee such as : recent bank statements of checking or savings account showing adequate amounts or last months paystubs or travelers checks (approx. $100 per day) 

- An Application Form

-One recent photograph (passport size)

The Consulate General of Greece, after evaluating the above mentioned submitted documents, reserves the right to request additional documents such as: 

- Lodging information in Schengen countries (hotel reservations or hotel vouchers or rental of vacational home. In case the applicant is a guest of a relative or a friend residing in Greece a letter of the host with his/her full name and address has to be presented stamped at a Greek Police Station)

- Employment Proof a letter from the employer stating that the applicant is currently employed and the duration of his vacation , or, if the applicant is a student

- Letter from school/college/university confirming attendance

- If the applicant is under 18 years old :

If traveling alone a notarized authorization from both parents is necessary.
If traveling with one parent a notarized authorization from the other parent is necessary.
If only one parent has the legal and full custody of the minor the court documents stating so must be presented

- If the applicant wishes to go on a business trip a letter from his/her employer containing information on the purpose of the trip must be presented. If the applicant is invited to a Congress the invitation must be presented.

INFORMATION ON SCHENGEN VISAS

The Schengen visas are valid for the following European States :

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.

If the applicant plans to visit only one Schengen country, he/she should apply for a visa at the Consulate of that country. If the applicant plans to visit more than one Schengen countries he/she should apply for a visa at the Consulate of the country of main destination (according to the length of stay.) If the applicant plans to stay the same length of time in each Schengen country or is unable to determine the country of main destination (that of longest stay), then he/she should apply for a visa at the Consulate of the country through which he/she first enters the Schengen territory.

The duration of the Schengen visas, valid for the above mentioned countries, can be from one(l) to maximum ninety(90) days.

Applicants (residing in California and within the jurisdiction of this Consulate) should appear in person when applying for a visa. If they wish to have their passport with the visa mailed back they should provide a self-addressed envelope (only certified mail will be accepted) or Express/certified mail or Fed-Ex.

Applicants are advised to apply for their visa at least three weeks prior to their departure.

PROCEDURES

- The applicant must appear in person for an interview at the consulate nearest to his/her place of residence. In case the applicant is unable to appear in person he/she shoud contact the consulate for instructions.
